OE Professional Networking Success

Professional networking and sector specific support and mentorship are some of the most important benefits the OE network can offer.

With a network of over 6000 former pupils living all around the world, working in a huge variety of industries, we have been thrilled over the last year to increase opportunities for OEs to mix with those who they didn’t necessarily know at RGS but who who they would benefit from meeting professionally.

Following the success of our Law and Finance groups introduced last year, Wednesday 15 November saw our second Alumni Professions Group launch, this time for OEs working in the Media, Marketing, Broadcast and PR sectors.

Scott and Sophie travelled to London to host the event which was held just off Oxford Street, close to the offices of many attending. The OEs ranged from Class of 1983 to Class of 2019 and covered a fascinating range of job roles; from Policy advising to Copywriting, TV Broadcasting to Editing, and Sales to Tech, for companies including ITV, Amazon and Ofcom. There were OEs there running their own business, award winners, and Directors, to those who have only recently started out on their professional journeys. It is this mix which makes these events so successful; the opportunity to hear from those in different areas or stages of their professional lives but with whom they have common ground.

From start to finish the conversations between the OEs flowed easily and everyone thoroughly enjoyed meeting each other and sharing experiences, both professional and about RGS days across the years. It was a great pleasure to see so many connections being made and to see the OE network “in action”. Feedback from the evening was wonderfully positive, with everyone saying how they enjoyed the event and how beneficial it was too. We look forward to holding more in the future and to meeting many more of you over the coming years.
