Department for Education (DfE) data published at the end of January, confirmed RGS’s position as the best performing school at A Level in Worcester. As in previous years, RGS Worcester delivered above-average results for its pupils when measured in relation to Value Added using the DfE’s own independent measures. In simple terms, this means that students at RGS Worcester achieve A Level results well beyond what normally would have been expected. Indeed, RGS Worcester was not only the best performing Sixth Form in Worcester on this measure, and the only school to achieve a positive Value-added outcome in the City, it was also amongst the very best of schools for both this measure and for a whole variety of other performance indicators across the whole of Worcestershire.
Whilst RGS Worcester’s position as the top-performing school in Worcester for A Level is nothing new, what makes this year’s results even more impressive is that they were achieved against a national backdrop of more challenging A Levels and a tightening in the standards and associated marking of these A Levels. The DfE publication finalises what has been a series of impressive independent assessments of academic performance of RGS Worcester pupils in public examinations. RGS Worcester was recently ranked in the top 200 best Independent Schools (and best in Worcester) according to the Sunday Times Parent Power 2020 rankings and the School was also highlighted in The Daily Telegraph newspaper as providing high-level Value For Money, mapping school fees with public examination results.
